MORU CURRY

" Moru kachiyath  " is a kerala curry where basically you add a tadka to " moru " or curd.

when i was in the ages of 12- 15 it was one of my favorite dishes. it had this very calm and warm feel that made all your fever go away .

But , after going to pala the two things i hate the most in this world is sundays and moru curry

a combination of moru curry on a sunday = utter disaster.

though why ? , how did such a warm dish turn into a fiery pit of fire ?

Often when it comes to food what attracts us towards it is the taste and the moment when you had the food.

if the food was tasty but you had it while fighting , you would've liked the food but would probably avoid ordering it . this might not be something we do consciously .

and if the food wasn't tasty but was consumed during a very sweet swoon worthy moment in your life , then no matter how average the taste was , it automatically feels like the best thing in the world.

but if the food isn't tasty nor was consumed during a happy memorable moment , it has followed the path of " moru curry "

moru curry , cherupayar upperi and rice along with a chicken who died twice was our Sunday staple meal in the hostel. yes  it does sound good when reading , but the chicken was hardly chicken.

you cannot move it , u merely have a solid mass covered in masala infront of you .

they added garlic in the moru curry which broke my heart. but it wasn't enough for me to totally hate it

but its pairing with the most painful day during pala days definitely did the trick.

Sunday is the only holiday we get  ( even sunday was rare ) , and on Sundays everyone's parents or guardians come to visit them and spend time.

this was not the case for everyone ( certainly not me ) , but in my room , all 5 others parents visited often enough .

now. This isn't something to be really that jealous of.. but the problem was that they'd be gone for the day , which means I have to spend it alone and probably try to hitch in lunch with someone which was damn awkward.

then afterwards most of them would say they are not coming for dinner cuz they bought take away and so you have dinner alone too. that's when you eat moru curry and a dead chicken fry with tears in your heart and a heavy sigh !.

there are five  Lakshmi's in Pala , which means I share my name with the other 4 so whenver either of their parents come people call me saying its mine but I know its not mine but then I just get uselessly disappointed.

so along with moru curry comes terrifying Sunday's loneliness and I came to hate the curry and have yet to come to good terms with it .
